Canadian airlines WestJet has announced the resumption of its transatlantic services between St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, and London.
The service, operational for six months each year, will offer direct flights to London’s Gatwick Airport three times a week from May to October, presenting new opportunities for the growth of St. John’s business, leisure, cargo, and tourism sectors.
‘In service of our valued Atlantic communities, partners and guests, the WestJet Group is proud to close the critical gap in air accessibility for the province by providing non-stop connectivity to one of Europe’s most popular travel hubs,’ said WestJet Vice-President External Affairs, Andrew Gibbons. ‘Today’s announcement reaffirms our commitment to the city of St. John’s and the surrounding region, as we deliver on our promise to bolster leisure travel and two-way tourism options in Eastern Canada.’
The WestJet Summer Transatlantic Schedule from St. John’s features two routes with a frequency of three times a week. The St. John’s to London Gatwick route will be operational from May 1, 2024, to October 25, 2024, with departure at 12:15 a.m. and arrival at 9:00 a.m. The London Gatwick to St. John’s, also operates three times a week during the same period, with departure at 11:00 a.m. and arrival at 1:15 p.m.
