A Suffolk-based travel agency is progressing towards fully reopening its second branch, having onboarded two apprentices and a former cruise industry executive.
Travel Stop, currently managing its operations with limited staff, is banking on this fresh talent to boost its availability and offerings.
Travel Stop, which has traditionally focused on experienced hires, shifted its strategy in the past 18 months by welcoming two apprentices. This move has enabled the Hadleigh branch to expand its operating days from one to three per week.
In September 2022, 19-year-old Ellen Boardley joined Travel Stop as an apprentice after impressing the team with her adept handling of her family’s Walt Disney World Resort Florida holiday booking.
“Both girls get on well, and we’ve already seen Ellen mentoring Olivia,” said owner Bridget Keevil. Familiarity with the agency’s services has proven advantageous for the apprentices.
Mcquaker’s remuneration is performance-based, deriving income from successful bookings.
The Elmswell branch, currently open just one day a week, is scheduled for future expansion, although it remains the last focus due to its lower footfall.
The introduction of apprentices has not only filled staffing gaps but has also injected fresh energy and perspective into the agency.
“His local contacts are invaluable in driving enquiries and enhancing client engagement,” remarked Keevil.
By strategically investing in apprenticeships and leveraging expert industry knowledge, Travel Stop aims to navigate post-pandemic challenges and emerge stronger.
Travel Stop is committed to maintaining high standards of client service while expanding and adapting its operational model.
Travel Stop’s decision to integrate apprentices and industry experts signifies a proactive approach to overcoming staffing challenges.
With continued strategic investments, the agency is well on its way to restoring full operations and enhancing its service offerings.
