SAS is set to expand its winter flight schedule by adding new routes from London to the Arctic City of Tromso and the Scandinavian ski region of Salen-Trysil next winter.

These additions come as part of their strategy to cater to the increasing demand for unique winter travel experiences and strengthen their presence in the northern Scandinavian market.

SAS has announced the introduction of new flight routes from London to the northern Scandinavian regions of Tromso and Salen-Trysil. This strategic move aims to capitalise on the growing interest in winter travel to these areas known for their scenic beauty and winter sports facilities.

According to Erik Westman, SAS Chief Revenue Officer, the airline has observed a significant rise in European tourists heading to northern Scandinavia in the winter months. The introduction of these routes aligns with their mission to offer increased travel options for this growing market.

The newly introduced service will complement existing connections from Copenhagen, Aalborg, and Aarhus, further solidifying SAS’s role as a leading carrier to these destinations.

Local businesses are optimistic about the potential for increased tourist numbers, which will likely contribute to job creation and economic growth in these communities.

This move towards sustainability is in line with global trends in the aviation industry, as airlines strive to lessen their environmental impact while remaining competitive.

Feedback from passengers has highlighted the importance of having direct flights to popular winter destinations, which SAS is now addressing with its expanded offerings.

The airline’s commitment to expanding its route network indicates a promising future for SAS as a major player in the European aviation market. As demand for unique winter travel experiences grows, SAS is positioned to capture a significant share of this market.
