    Mauritius Airports Operational After Cyclone Belal

    Mauritius has reopened its international airport after the passing of Cyclone Belal, which had caused widespread disruption. The island was recently impacted by severe weather, resulting in a temporary halt in airport operations.

    The reopening comes after the lifting of cyclone warnings, although Tropical Storm Belal may still affect local weather conditions. Authorities advise continued caution and adherence to local guidance.

    The Indian Ocean island of Mauritius faced significant challenges earlier this week due to Cyclone Belal. Strong winds and heavy rains swept through the region, resulting in widespread flooding and a temporary closure of its primary airport, SSR International Airport. The cyclone prompted the UK Foreign Office to issue a travel alert, urging travellers to remain vigilant.

    Following the subsidence of Cyclone Belal, SSR International Airport has resumed operations. Passengers are advised, however, not to proceed to the airport unless they have confirmed the status of their flights. Access to the Check-in Hall is restricted to those with confirmed departures, ensuring a smooth and secure resumption of services. The airport management is coordinating with airlines to manage delayed and rescheduled flights efficiently.

    Air Mauritius has swiftly responded to the situation by resuming select flights and updating passengers on the status of their journeys. The airline has advised against unnecessary travel to the airport until passengers have been informed of their rescheduled flight times.
