Thailand has officially been announced as the shooting site for the highly anticipated third season of the acclaimed TV series, “The White Lotus.” This move marks a significant partnership between the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the American TV network HBO. Filming is scheduled to begin in February, with locations set in Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui, promising an exotic backdrop that aligns with the show’s prestigious reputation.
The collaboration with TAT indicates a strategic effort to highlight Thailand’s diverse offerings, from its stunning natural landscapes to its rich historical sites. According to TAT governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, “We are honoured to have amazing Thailand featured as the filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of The White Lotus.” The series aims to encapsulate the vibrant culture, exquisite cuisine, renowned wellness, and luxury amenities that Thailand is globally known for, supported by the country’s hallmark of hospitality.
This third instalment of the series, which is set for a 2025 release, will be bringing together an impressive cast including Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, and Natasha Rothwell. Additionally, the cast will feature Thai actors, Dom Hetrakul and Tayme Thapthimthong, integrating local talent into this internationally celebrated series. By featuring both international stars and local actors, the series underscores the intended cultural fusion and storytelling diversity.
The inception of “The White Lotus” in 2021 saw its first setting in the lush landscapes of Hawaii, followed by the historical and culturally rich locale of Sicily. Now, with Thailand as its next backdrop, the series is expected to convey another layer of intrigue through its narrative developments.
