TTC Tour Brands and Uniworld have released their third annual impact report, showcasing major advancements in sustainability measures across their operations. With a clear investment exceeding $1.88 million into 13 decarbonisation projects, the company is prioritising efforts to enhance environmental responsibility.

Uniworld has made noteworthy achievements, particularly with the reduction of food waste. Thanks to a specialist tracking system implemented in 2021, food waste across the Uniworld fleet was decreased by 36% last year. This initiative is a part of the broader ‘How We Tread Right’ strategy which aims to address environmental and operational impacts.

The report highlights several efforts towards reducing carbon emissions. Properties used by Contiki in locations such as France and Austria now operate exclusively on renewable electricity, with a complete shift to local and organic food suppliers. Furthermore, plans are in place for European coaches to run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), potentially cutting carbon output by up to 40%.

In terms of DEI, Uniworld is making strong advances. All employees globally have endorsed a code of conduct, reinforcing the company’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, Uniworld has established a hospitality school, offering training sessions focused on food and beverage, and housekeeping.

Energy conservation is also a focus, with a marked decrease in the reliance on external laundries leading to a 24-tonne reduction in laundry waste in 2023. Moreover, Uniworld stands out as the sole cruise company involved in ‘Path2Zero’, a research initiative with Delft University of Technology, aimed at paving a path to net zero emissions for the inland shipping industry by 2025.

The efforts and advancements by TTC Tour Brands and Uniworld reflect a proactive and comprehensive approach towards achieving sustainability and operational excellence.
