Ben Drew, President of Viator, announced his departure from the role after a notable four-year tenure.

    • Drew’s leadership at Viator commenced just before the COVID-19 pandemic, presenting unique challenges.
    • Under Drew’s guidance, Viator not only survived but thrived, achieving significant revenue growth by 2023.
    • Drew’s decision to leave stems from pursuing a new opportunity in a different industry.
    • TripAdvisor’s CEO praised Drew’s successful leadership and strategic direction for Viator’s future.

Ben Drew, the President leading Viator, announced his departure after four pivotal years in the role. His tenure began just before a global crisis as the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, marking a period of significant challenges for the travel industry.

Drew’s leadership saw Viator navigating these tumultuous times effectively. Despite the initial hit to the business, Viator managed to thrive under his guidance. By 2023, the company accomplished $737 million in revenue, marking a 49% year-over-year growth and achieving profitability, which stands as a testament to Drew’s strategic acumen and the team’s resilience.

In a LinkedIn announcement, Drew expressed his decision to leave Viator for a new opportunity in a different industry, calling it a ‘difficult decision.’ He reflected on the unexpected challenges faced at the onset of his presidency and lauded the collective efforts that led to Viator’s success post-pandemic.

Drew stated, “When I started as president in January 2020, we were on borrowed time. We just didn’t know it yet. Within days, Covid took our business to zero. Partners faced bankruptcy. Operators exited the tours business. An extremely turbulent future lay ahead for the whole industry.” Despite these dire circumstances, Drew and his team not only weathered the storm but emerged stronger, aiding millions of customers and supporting numerous businesses worldwide.
