A PEAK District camping and glamping site is celebrating after winning three top awards in a month.

Longnor Wood Holiday Park picked up one UK-wide award and two best in region accolades at three different national award ceremonies during November.

The five-star site near Buxton was named the UK’s best adult-only site by Campsites.co.uk in its 2024 Camping and Glamping Awards; won the AA’s Heart of England Campsite of the Year; and picked up the award for Best Small Relax and Explore destination in the Heart of England from UK holiday giant Hoseasons.

Sam Kitchen, who manages the site with her husband Ian, said: “We are all absolutely over the moon to have won not just one but three awards in such a short space of time.

“Our aim is to combine great accommodation, facilities and customer service against the backdrop of our fantastic location in the Peak District.

“We are delighted that our guests love staying at Longnor Wood and that so many of them are repeat visitors and are happy to recommend us. It’s what our jobs are all about.”

It is the second consecutive year that Longnor Wood has won the UK’s best adult-only site in the Campsites.co.uk awards. The park achieved a rating of 4.8 out of 5 in more than 100 reviews on the national booking site, with 94% of guests saying that they would recommend the site.

Described by the AA as a ‘hidden gem’ where guests can expect ‘a warm, friendly welcome and a high standard of customer care’, Longnor Wood won Heart of England Campsite of the Year in its annual Caravan and Camping Awards. The winners are selected by AA inspectors and recognise sites across the UK with outstanding overall quality and high levels of customer care.

Longnor Wood was also recognised at Hoseasons’ 18th annual awards held at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham. The event celebrates sites which have achieved the highest scores in independent guest satisfaction surveys throughout the 2024 season, with Longnor Wood taking home a prestigious Diamond award.

Rated five-star by the AA, Longnor Wood is home to ensuite glamping pods, luxury lodges and caravan holiday homes with outdoor tubs, as well as all-weather pitches for camping and tourers. Open throughout the year apart from January, the dog-friendly site is surrounded by woodland and within easy reach of popular Peak District walking and cycling trails, as well as market towns and attractions.

Longnor Wood is part of the WCF employee-owned family of businesses which operate across the UK in the leisure, retail and logistics sectors. The site is one of three five-star camping and glamping businesses operated by WCF, with sister sites at Herding Hill Farm close to the Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site, and at Drummohr, which is just 10 miles from Edinburgh on the shores of the Firth of Forth.
