Eastern Airways Introduces New Service from Southampton to Brussels

Eastern Airways, a UK-based airline, has announced the launch of a new service from Southampton Airport to the European Union capital, Brussels, in Belgium.

The airline is offering a daily service on the new Southampton to Brussels route, six days a week, following the recent withdrawal of services on the route by Flybe, another UK-based airline.

Flybe had ceased operations on the route in February this year, although Eastern Airways had previously operated between Southampton and Brussels for two years, ceasing in 2008 when Flybe stepped in and commenced their service.

Kay Ryan, the commercial director for Eastern Airways, said, ‘Our fully inclusive service is not only the most convenient way to reach Brussels from Southampton and the south coast of England, but also helps strong trade and business links continue between the region and the EU capital. Later Sunday flights will benefit business travellers heading for Monday morning meetings, while tourists visiting Brussels and Bruges can also take advantage of the service.’

Southampton Airport is offering a dedicated fast track security channel for Eastern Airways passengers, as the airline has had a presence there since 2003.

Dave Lees, the Southampton Airport managing director, said, ‘We’re delighted to welcome Eastern Airways back to this route today. It’s a highly requested route by both our business and leisure passengers, who are looking for convenient flights to this major European centre.’

The airline currently boasts a fleet of 30 aircraft, which operate from 21 airports in UK, Norway, Belgium and France.
