Riding the wave of Olympic excitement and coinciding with the Winter Paralympic Games, the Dolomiti Ski Jazz Festival brings ten days of music to the Fassa, Fiemme and Cembra Valleys, from 6 to 15 March 2026.
This year, it is snow infused with a global spirit that sets the stage for the renowned Dolomiti Ski Jazz Festival, returning to the Fassa, Fiemme and Cembra Valleys from 6 to 15 March 2026.
The universal language of jazz sweeps through Trentino, flowing across ski slopes, mountain huts, pubs and theatres, just after the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games in Val di Fiemme and right in the heart of the 2026 Winter Paralympics, featuring cross-country skiing and biathlon competitions at the Tesero Cross-Country Ski Stadium (6–15 March).
As the Fassa, Fiemme and Cembra Valleys experience an unprecedented atmosphere of global friendship, great jazz takes centre stage, with its innate ability to transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries. Ten days of pure enjoyment unfold in the breathtaking setting of the UNESCO-listed Dolomites, among snow-covered slopes and the vibrant night-time atmosphere of the three Trentino valleys following the course of the Avisio stream.
Music at high altitude, to be enjoyed with skis on; music in evocative locations and venues throughout the day; and more music in theatres in the evening. Dolomiti Ski Jazz offers ten days of total immersion in sound and landscape.
THE BIG NAMES OF THE 30TH EDITION
“The challenge”, explains Enrico Tommasini, Artistic Director of the festival, “is to offer concerts that appeal to seasoned jazz lovers while also engaging those who are less familiar with the genre. Performances in mountain huts can captivate a broad audience, while evening concerts in theatres provide the chance to enjoy outstanding performances by internationally renowned artists”. The programme is therefore rich and highly engaging. The Teatro Nuovo in Cembra will host Simone Alessandrini, considered one of the most brilliant talents of the new Italian jazz generation, performing with his group Storytellers, which blends jazz, folk and rock elements to narrate real or legendary stories through music.
At Palafiemme in Cavalese, two ensembles will share the stage on the same evening: the new and unmissable quartet led by saxophonist Pietro Tonolo and drummer Giovanni Giorgi, followed by a New York-based trio featuring three of today’s most acclaimed musicians Logan Richardson, Harish Raghavan and Jeff “Tain” Watts. Singer-songwriter Patrizia Laquidara will also be featured, presenting her new show at Teatro Marmolada in Canazei on 8 March, in celebration of International Women’s Day.
In Castello di Fiemme, audiences will be treated to hard bop, the iconic jazz style of the 1950s and ’60s, performed by the international quintet led by Joe Magnarelli & Kirk MacDonald. Great anticipation also surrounds the concert by Dutch band The Roarin’ Cats, bringing the swing of the Roaring Twenties to the stage of Teatro di Tesero, with special guest, the legendary “Godfather of Swing” Ray Gelato.
Young bassist Kinga Głyk, a rising star of funk, will present her energetic band at the Teatro Comunale in Predazzo, while the festival finale will feature the undisputed jazz-rock guitar icon Frank Gambale, performing with his band at Teatro Navalge in Moena.
The festival kicks off with a bang on Friday 6 March, with a double opening event: Evi Mair Olympus Band will perform at midday on the natural stage of Ciampedie in Vigo di Fassa, followed in the evening by Simone Alessandrini Storytellers at the Nuovo Teatro in Cembra.
The 30th edition of Dolomiti Ski Jazz brings together artists from Italy, the Netherlands, France, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Poland, Canada, Germany, Spain and Austria, offering a truly international immersion in the history and sounds of jazz.
Most daytime events are free of charge, while evening concerts hosted in theatres and auditoriums require a ticket.
