HURGHADA, Egypt: Egypt’s standing as a year-round holiday destination received a fresh boost this week, as Rixos Hotels Egypt collected seven titles at the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony 2026. The awards, decided at a ceremony held on 28 August 2026 in Zanzibar, Tanzania, span the brand’s resorts along the Red Sea coast and the Mediterranean shoreline of Alexandria.

The result draws attention to three of Egypt’s most visited leisure regions. From the beaches of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada to the historic seafront of Alexandria, the wins showcase the breadth of experiences on offer to travellers weighing up an Egyptian holiday. Full details of each property can be found on the Rixos Egypt website.

A portfolio built for every kind of traveller

What stands out about the seven honours is their range. Recognition arrived for family holidays, adults-only escapes, heritage stays and beachfront luxury, underlining how a single destination can cater to very different types of visitor. Egypt’s appeal, the awards suggest, extends well beyond its ancient monuments to a modern coastal hospitality scene competing at the highest level across Africa.

    The seven winning titles

    • Africa’s Leading Water Park 2026, Aqua Park, Rixos Premium Seagate, Egypt
    • Egypt’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort 2026, Rixos Sharm El Sheikh Adults Only 18+
    • Egypt’s Leading Beach Resort 2026, Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas
    • Egypt’s Leading Family Resort 2026, Rixos Premium Seagate
    • Egypt’s Leading Heritage Hotel 2026, Rixos Montaza Alexandria
    • Egypt’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2026, Premium Villa @ Club Prive by Rixos Sharm El Sheikh
    • Egypt’s Leading Resort 2026, Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas

Hurghada emerged as a particular focus, with Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas named both the leading beach resort and the leading resort in the country, and Rixos Premium Seagate recognised for its family offering and its aqua park. Sharm El Sheikh contributed titles for its adults-only all-inclusive resort and its luxury villa collection, while Alexandria’s Rixos Montaza took the heritage category, a nod to the city’s enduring cultural draw.

    Confidence in Egypt’s coastal offer

Reflecting on the results, the brand emphasised the role of its teams and its long-term commitment to guests. Mr. Erkan Yildirim, Managing Director of Rixos Hotels Egypt, said: “We are extremely proud to receive seven World Travel Awards. This recognition reflects the dedication of our teams and our continued commitment to delivering exceptional and memorable guest experiences. We sincerely thank our guests and partners for their trust and support.”

For prospective visitors, the clean sweep offers a useful signpost across regions and holiday styles, from the diving waters of the Red Sea to the palm-lined promenades of Alexandria. The World Travel Awards programme, often described as a benchmark for excellence within the travel industry, publishes its full list of 2026 African winners via the World Travel Awards. For Egypt, the seven titles add further weight to a destination increasingly positioned as a contender for discerning international travellers.
