Dubai International airport has said that its purpose-built A380 facility, Concourse 3, will be a foodie’s delight.
The airport said that it would introduce 16 public food outlets and bars to the facility that will provide a diverse choice of cuisine for the discerning traveller.
The food and beverage options available at the airport will include Giraffe, the health-food family restaurant, and other prominent names in the food industry such as McDonalds, Starbucks and Paul. The airport outlet will be Giraffe’s first in the Middle East, and will have a non-branded food court to provide for clients of all budgets and tastes.
The airport had issued tenders for quality food and beverage services last September.
Eugene Barry, senior vice president of commercial at Dubai Airport, said, ‘Dubai Airports’ commercial direction has changed in recent times. As we continue to emerge as a leading global hub, the available brand concepts, and calibre of services, at our airports have to match, and even exceed, the rising expectations of an increasingly international clientele. Our experience and success at Concourse 1 and 2 are the result of a similar customer-centric approach, but Concourse 3 gives us a blank canvas that will help us set a new and higher standard. This has resulted in new design standards, which will deliver functional but visually appealing outlets, bringing Concourse 3 in line with the cosmopolitan profile of passengers expected to use the facility.’
Concourse 3 will cater solely for customers of Emirates flights and will be spread over 500,000 sq. metres and 10 levels. It is expected to open in the first quarter of 2013.
