Hollywood superstar couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, are taking their children for a waterside break at Lake Windermere in Cumbria, according to a report in the Daily Mirror newspaper.
England’s largest lake, set amidst the valleys and uplands of the Lake District National Park, has long been a favourite getaway destination for British families that are not on a film star’s budget, but now they are to be joined by two of the best known and most prolific screen icons of the day. The couple and their six children, Maddox, 11, Pax, eight, Zahara, seven, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, are believed to be heading for a stay in a boathouse on the edge of the picturesque lake.
Angelina is starring in the movie, Maleficent, which is being shot in the UK, and a source reportedly told the newspaper that scenes were originally due to be shot near the lake but the location had now been moved to a spot closer to Pinewood studios. As the boathouse had already been booked, the couple decided to go ahead with plans to for the visit anyway, to avoid disappointing the children.
Like any normal family, eating out and a quad-biking trip are reportedly high on the agenda during their stay, which should provide ample celebrity spotting opportunities for the thousands of ordinary holidaymakers that traditionally flock to the Lake District at this time of year.
The Cumbria trip is only the latest destination in the high-profile family’s summer sojourn, with them having spent the recent Bank Holiday weekend at Le Touquet in northern France.
