Ryanair, an Ireland-based low fares airline, is set to carry a record three million passengers travelling home for Christmas between December 20 and January 6, an increase of 100,000 over 2012.
Ryanair will operate flights up to 14.40hrs (GMT) on Christmas Eve, and resume flights at 09.30hrs (GMT) on Boxing Day, to facilitate its passengers’ Christmas travel. While extra Christmas flights to Germany and Poland are booking up fast, this year families are increasingly booking Christmas sun holidays on Ryanair’s extra flights to the Canary Islands, and winter breaks to Barcelona and Milan, the company said.
Ryanair is also urging passengers to give the gift of flying this Christmas with a Ryanair Christmas Gift Voucher, which are available for purchase at www.ryanair.com.
The gift vouchers are available for €25/£25 upwards, allowing the recipients to fly on one of Ryanair’s 1,600 low-fare routes for a city break, winter sun vacation or a ski trip, or book their summer 2014 holiday in one of 30 countries.
Ryanair’s Robin Kiely, said: ‘Ryanair will carry over 3m passengers across Europe home over the Christmas period – an increase of 100,000 passengers on 2012 – after record bookings for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Ryanair will operate flights right up to 14.40hrs (GMT) on Christmas Eve, resuming flights at 09.30hrs (GMT) on St Stephen’s Day.
