easyJet, a UK-based airline, will offer six new Fearless Flyer courses aimed at helping nervous travellers across Britain and Northern Ireland to overcome their phobia.

Many passengers suffer from a fear of flying and find it difficult to relax on board, or they even abstain from flying due to their fear. easyJet has teamed up with FOF Events, to offer the ‘Fearless Flyer’ course to enable nervous participants to board an aircraft confidently and help them become fearless flyers.

In spring 2014, the ‘Fearless flyer’ courses will be offered for the second time at Manchester (March 28 and 29), Bristol (May 17 and 18), Gatwick (April 5 and 6), Stansted (April 26 and 27) and Luton airports (May 10 and 11), and at Belfast International (March 15 and 16) for the first time.

The two-day programme is led by phobia expert, Lawrence Leyton, from Channel 4’s ‘Fear of Flying’, and a senior easyJet pilot. The two experts will explain how an aircraft works, clear away misconceptions and help participants manage their fear.

On the second day, participants will travel aboard a state of the art easyJet aircraft. The flight has a dedicated crew including an additional captain in the cabin, giving a full commentary for the entire journey.

Peter Duffy, easyJet’s customer director, said: ‘We’re extremely pleased to be partnering with Lawrence and the team for a further series of Fearless Flyer courses. The techniques and advice the participants receive genuinely work for all levels of nervousness. From those who are extreme phobics and petrified of setting foot on a plane to passengers who experience general anxiety or need reassurance about the mechanics of flying. We know that the course make a real difference and enables passengers to overcome their phobia.’

Mark Wein, director of FOF Events said: ‘We’re delighted to be working with easyJet on the highly successful Fearless Flyer project. As a former phobic myself, I appreciate more than most how debilitating a fear of flying can be and the anxiety that it can cause. That’s why we’ve designed the course in such a way to ensure that the process to becoming a fearless flyer is totally stress free and also highly entertaining.’

easyJet’s Fearless Flyer course costs £189 including the Experience flight. Participants can invite a companion with them on the flight if they wish, at a cost of £69.
