Ryanair app to save money on smartphone call charges

Ryanir, an Ireland-based low-cost air carrier, has introduced a money saving smartphone app for its customers.

The app, Ryanair Talk, is claimed to help users avoid roaming charges from their network providers, help them to benefit from cheap calls home while overseas, and to make cheaper international calls when they are at home. The app will perform its cost saving functions using wi-fi or 3G Internet connections, to any landline or mobile device.

Ryanair claims that the app will help users to save over 65 percent on their bills by enabling them to call any mobile phone in Europe for as little as €0.13 per minute. This compares with a typical charge of €0.35 per minute from most European network providers. The call charge to landlines with Ryanair Talk can be as little as €0.03 per minute, which represents a saving of as much as 90 percent.

Ryanair Talk is already available to Ryanair passengers for download on any iPhone or Android device, with instant access to the cheaper call rates. The airline is also offering an additional incentive to the first 50,000 customers to download the app, with 10 minutes worth of free mobile calls or 40 minutes worth of free landline calls.

A spokesman for Ryanair, Robin Kiely, said, ‘Ryanair already delivers Europe’s lowest airfares, as well as the guaranteed lowest and hotel room rates (via its service at RyanairHotels.com). Now Ryanair passengers can continue to save money and enjoy cheaper phone bills by using RyanairTalk, which is available to download through the Ryanair.com website, Google Play and the iPhone app store.’
