Chalair is set to begin a new seasonal flight service connecting Southampton with Caen, Normandy. The service will operate twice a week, offering a convenient travel option for UK residents heading to France this summer.

Launching on June 28, this new route marks Southampton Airport’s inaugural flights to the historic city of Caen. Operated by Chalair using a 70-seat ATR 72 aircraft, the service will run through September 22.

Chalair, a Normandy-based airline, has announced the launch of a new route connecting Southampton with Caen. This service will operate twice weekly, on Fridays and Sundays, making it an attractive option for those planning short trips to France. The decision to establish this route highlights the airline’s commitment to expanding its network and improving regional accessibility.

With flights departing Friday mornings and returning Sunday afternoons, passengers have the opportunity to enjoy a weekend getaway in the picturesque Normandic region. This schedule allows travellers to explore Caen’s historical sites and beautiful landscapes.

By connecting these two cities, the service is anticipated to stimulate interest in Normandy for UK tourists and residents with second homes in France, further enhancing bilateral ties.

The flight’s duration of just 40 minutes makes it not only a quick but an efficient option for those seeking a swift transit between the UK and France.

The direct flights will likely increase French tourism in Southampton and the broader Hampshire area while drawing UK visitors to explore Normandy’s rich heritage.

The introduction of this route marks a significant step in Chalair’s expansion plans. As a local airline from Normandy, Chalair aims to showcase regional attractions to a wider audience now accessible through Southampton.

By bridging these two prominent locations, the service not only augments travel options but encourages economic and cultural ties. This initiative lays the groundwork for further connectivity and collaborative opportunities in the future.
