Vueling Airlines, a Spanish based airline with its headquarters in Barcelona, has decided to increase its flights from Cardiff to Spanish resort destinations.

The company has made the decision to increase the number of Welsh flights due to the growing popularity of existing flights to Spain from Cardiff. The new flights to Malaga and Alicante have been scheduled to commence on the 23rd of this month, so will be in place in time for the Easter holiday exodus. More flights to Malaga will be added on Wednesdays during the peak school holiday time of August and September.

From March 23, Vueling will be operating flights from Cardiff to Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma Majorca. In addition, starting from June 20 this year, flights from Cardiff to Palma Majorca will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Flights to Alicante and Malaga will also operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from March 23 this year, while from March 28, flights to Barcelona will operate on Fridays and Sundays, with the added benefit of providing connections to cruises departing from Barcelona.

From Vueling’s Barcelona Hub, the company provides access to over 50 European and North-African destinations, and provides a checked baggage service from Cardiff to the final destination.

Head of air service development and commercial operations at Cardiff Airport, Spencer Birns, said, ‘It’s great to see Welsh passengers using the Vueling flights and those that have travelled with them already are re-booking because of the competitive pricing and quality product. We would urge more welsh passengers to support their local airport and fly with Vueling this summer.’
