Families intending to holiday during the Jubilee Bank Holidays may be spending more than they need to on holiday extras, such as airport parking, travel insurance and travel money, according to a new report released by TravelSupermarket, a UK-based online travel company. The report suggests that families may be paying up to £456.51 more on holiday extras, and on booking certain facilities. The report also suggests that with a little planning it is possible for British travellers to avoid spending so much on these extra holiday amenities. Burj Al Arab, a luxury hotel in Dubai, UAE, is hosting a new website to showcase its range of Romance packages. The Jumeirah Group, a UAE-based luxury hospitality company, operates the hotel, which is the fourth tallest in the world. The Burl Al Arab already owns a website to handle its bookings at www.burjalarabhotel.net, but has recently added www.burjalarabromance.com, a new website that claims to offer couples the ultimate romantic experience in a luxurious ambience. Premier Inn, a UK-based hotel brand from Whitbread PLC, will be opening its new Premier Inn hotel in London Richmond, UK. The property, which will be offering 93 bedrooms, will open on June 18, 2012, and will provide around 37 new jobs for the residents of Richmond and the local area. The hotel guestrooms cater for up to two adults and two children, of 15 years and below, and offer amenities including TV with Freeview, tea and coffee making facilities, and a work area with Wi-Fi Internet access. Marriott International hotels in the UK will be celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and claims to be highlighting the Best of Britain with entertaining attractions for guests. Marriott hotels will be celebrating Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on June 4, 2012, by offering a complimentary Corgi cocktail at its hotel bars to anyone whose name is Elizabeth or that was born in 1952. Travellers are being offered the opportunity of experiencing the inside of a dormant volcano in Iceland. The Thrihnukagigur volcano in Iceland, which last erupted 4,000 years ago, will now be open for tourists who will be able to descend down into the crater to the volcanic magma chamber. The descent into the volcanic chamber will be made using a cable lift. American Airlines, an airline subsidiary of US-based holding company, AMR Corporation, will be introducing its new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for service to London Heathrow Airport in the UK, from Dallas Fort Worth in the US, from January 31, 2013. The new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be equipped with lie-flat seating, aisle access for all passengers, Wi-Fi capability and 15.4-inch TV screens. Hertz Global Holdings, a US-based car rental company offering services around the world, has announced the expansion of its Hertz Gold Plus Rewards programme. The loyalty programme is currently being extended to Australia, New Zealand and Brazil as well as nine European countries, including the UK. The extended programme allows its members to redeem their points for rentals in the new countries. Edinburgh Central Princes Street Travelodge is now open in Edinburgh, Scotland. Travelodge Hotels Inc, a US-based company that owns and operates hotel properties, has developed the hotel, which is located above the Topshop store in the Princes Street area of Edinburgh. The new hotel has been constructed with an investment of £10m, and has 96 rooms. The company has also opened the 85-room, Edinburgh Central Queen Street Travelodge hotel, on Queens Street, Edinburgh. Wales will witness the opening of a new Hotel Indigo, with the Hotel Indigo Queen Street Cardiff to open in the Welsh Capital city. InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), a UK-based owner, manager and franchiser of hotels and resorts, has entered into an agreement to open its first Hotel Indigo brand property in Wales.
