Jet2 and Jet2holidays, the UK-based leisure airline and tour operator, have announced the addition of 45,000 seats for next October half-term. Jet2 said that the addition was in response to the ‘strong and sustained demand’ for summer 2023 to destinations including mainland Spain, Portugal, Greece, the Balearic Islands, Italy, Cyprus and Croatia. Flybe has commenced its services from Cornwall Airport Newquay on October 30, with a special Cornish cream tea for all passengers on board the flight to Manchester Airport. This marks the beginning of double daily flights to London Heathrow and daily flights to Manchester Airport from Cornwall Airport Newquay, adding one of the UK’s most popular staycation destinations to Flybe’s domestic routes. Cornwall Airport Newquay has said that Aer Lingus Regional, will commence a new link to Belfast City from Summer 2023. With a four-times weekly service, the Irish carrier will start operations from April 3, 2023, adding nearly 14,000 seats during the peak season. Improving the Cornish airport’s connectivity, Aer Lingus Regional has also confirmed an increased frequency of its Dublin service from its existing four-times weekly to daily service starting next summer, expanding connections to the carrier’s transatlantic flights from Dublin. Aer Lingus has resumed its service between Dublin and Miami. The service will initially operate twice weekly, from October 31, and will increase to thrice weekly subsequently. Dublin is Miami International Airport’s (MIA) only pre-clearance transatlantic destination, allowing Aer Lingus passengers to receive US Customs and Border Protection clearance before they leave Ireland and arrive in Miami as domestic passengers. Irish airline Aer Lingus is set to suspend its service between Belfast and Heathrow at the end of October in accordance with the post-Brexit rules, media reports have said. Since the UK left the European Union, EU-based carriers are not permitted to operate scheduled services on UK domestic routes. Aer Lingus has been running the route under a temporary licence, which has now come to an end. Meanwhile, the carrier’s sister airline, British Airways, will run a three-flights-per-day service over winter. London Gatwick Airport – part of VINCI Airports’ network – has said that during this October half-term the Airport will serve almost 90% of the destinations it served during the same period in 2019. London Gatwick will serve 172 destinations during the forthcoming holiday period, compared to 197 (87%) in the same period in 2019. Gatwick Airport has announced an expanded services of 51 flights per week to popular destinations in the US including New York, Orlando, Boston and Tampa. The improved transatlantic schedule comes in time for the peak booking period ahead of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season. easyJet, the UK-based European regional airline, has said that it is partnering with disabled flying charity Aerobility to host an exclusive ‘Aurora Flight’, providing passengers the opportunity to experience the splendour of the Northern Lights at 30,000 feet. The flight will be the first Northern Lights experience that the airline and charity have operated since the pandemic. British Airways has introduced a new route to its Aberdeen International Airport network operating to London City for winter. The new route will be operational from November and provide stronger domestic connectivity to London. Flights will begin operating on Tuesday November 1, 2022 and run until Sunday January 22, 2023 on the Embraer E190 aircraft.
