British Airways has said that it is expanding its US route network this summer, taking its direct US routes with London to 26. Portland, Oregon becomes the newest destination on the British Airways route map, providing the city’s only direct route to the UK. The brand-new route will operate five times per week – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Bournemouth Airport has announced the launch of two new Ryanair routes this month, Bergerac and Zadar. The new Ryanair flights to Bergerac in France will start on Saturday, June 4. Later this month, on June 18, Ryanair will start a new service to the resort of Zadar on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast. Norwich Airport has announced the return of flights to Jersey with the start of Blue Islands’ new summer service. The new direct Norwich to Jersey flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the summer up until September 24. Jet2.com is set to commence its new summer services to Innsbruck on Saturday, May 28, when the UK-based leisure airline operates its first summer flights to the Tyrolean capital from Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol Airports. Virgin Atlantic has announced the return of services to Cape Town from London Heathrow starting November 5, 2022 with a new daily service. The new winter service runs until March 24, 2023 and will complement the existing year-round daily service to Johannesburg. Emirates is set to resume flights between Dubai and London Stansted in August 2022. This will be the first time Emirates flies from Stansted since pausing operations from the airport in March 2020 following the pandemic. Initially, the airline will start with a five-weekly service, before increasing to a daily service from September 1. Operations will resume using a wide-body Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with an evening flight, with EK065 departing at 21:10 and arriving at Dubai International (DXB) at 07:10 the following day. Gatwick Airport has announced its summer schedule with 50 flights per week to six destinations across Canada this summer, as new and returning routes to Montreal, Quebec City, Vancouver and Halifax join existing services to Toronto and Calgary.
