Newcastle International Airport has said that its only official ‘Premium Meet and Greet’ car park has fully reopened to passengers following two years of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Located directly in front of the terminal, the Premium Meet and Greet car park allows passengers to drop their car off and head straight into the terminal. Inside the facility, there is a modern waiting area – with a hotel-style reception, and uniformed members of staff to welcome and collect passenger keys. Ryanair, the Ireland-based low-cost airline, has announced its largest ever Summer schedule from its three London airports – Gatwick, Luton, and Stansted – with 14 new routes (181 total) to holiday destinations across Europe, including Naples, Madeira, and Stockholm. As Covid travel restrictions have now been lifted, UK holidaymakers can now book the much needed Summer break benefiting to a wide choice of destinations, including the beaches of Spain, Portugal and Italy. Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, the UK-based leisure airline and holiday company, has announced the addition of new flights and holidays to Tenerife from five UK bases, following strong demand from holidaymakers looking for sunshine. The announcement comes as the Spanish government relaxes its vaccine requirement for British teenagers and allows them to enter the country with a negative PCR test performed 72 hours prior to arrival. Virgin Atlantic has said that it is reinstating its full portfolio of US destinations for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, as travel bookings rise 50 percent year on year. Starting from April, Virgin Atlantic will add frequencies and reintroduce services to key US gateways. Flights to Seattle and Washington DC will take off next week, with services to New York, San Francisco and Atlanta also increasing. British Airways is partnering with Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to become the first UK airline to formally recognise the Sunflower badging. The move comes as satisfaction among customers with accessibility needs has more than doubled after the airline’s investment in a number of initiatives, including a specialist customer care team for travellers who require additional assistance. British Airways has announced the launch of a new, daytime flight from Newark Liberty International Airport to London Heathrow – its third daily flight from Newark to London as business travel returns in 2022. The additional flight, which launches on June 6, will depart at 7.55am from Newark – allowing travellers to spend an extra night in the New York area before departing on business or leisure, or to arrive in the evening in London to spend the night at home or their hotel. Gatwick Airport has said that it will reopen its South Terminal in March – after nearly two years of closure – to serve the increased demand this summer and beyond as international travel returns. The announcement comes after the government eased testing requirements for those arriving into the UK significantly, with fully vaccinated passengers (two doses) and those under the age of 18 no longer needing to take pre-departure and post-arrival tests.
