Lufthansa Airlines has said that it will open up a new connection between Liverpool and Frankfurt, Germany. Starting May 4, 2022 the German carrier will offer nonstop flights for the first time from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to its main hub in Frankfurt. Ryanair, the Ireland-based low fares airline, has announced an additional route to its UK Summer 2022 schedule – Manchester to Genoa – operating twice weekly from April 2022. To celebrate the new route, Ryanair has launched a seat sale with fares available from £19.99 for travel until 30 June 2022. To benefit from the fares, customers may log onto Ryanair.com before midnight Thursday, December 16 and make up for the lost summers of 2020 and 2021 with a summer getaway. British Airways has recently said that it has become the first UK airline to trial a new video service transforming the experience for customers that use British Sign Language (BSL). The initiative is being trialled as part of the airline’s efforts to make travel simple and easy for customers with additional assistance needs. The airline’s new partnership with SignLive will see the company’s BSL service embedded in British Airways’ customer engagement centres. According to an online YouGov survey commissioned by Gatwick Airport and Wizz Air, more than half (56%) of people surveyed who are planning to fly in the next 12 months are concerned about airfares increasing in the current climate. More than a quarter (28%) of these people surveyed also said they are concerned about a reduction in the number of destinations they can choose to fly to, and 24% are worried about a reduction in the number of airlines they can fly with. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has said that it will increase services between Amsterdam and Newcastle International Airport to up to four flights daily, a total of up to 28 flights weekly. Edinburgh Airport has announced that United Airlines will be returning to Scotland with direct flights from Edinburgh to New York, Chicago and Washington D.C. set to resume next year. The airline will resume its year-round daily nonstop service between Edinburgh and New York/Newark from March 5, 2022 before season services to Chicago O’Hare and Washington D.C. resume on May 7, 2022. easyJet is set to expand its services from Aberdeen International Airport next year. The UK airline will double its daily summer services to London Gatwick and has confirmed its Manchester route will operate on a seasonal basis. easyJet’s Manchester service will resume from March 2022 along with the increased London Gatwick frequency. French ferry company Brittany Ferries has said that it is restoring its fast UK to France cross-Channel ferry route for 2022. Starting from late May until early September 2022, the Normandy port of Cherbourg will be linked with the south coast ports of Portsmouth in Hampshire and Poole in Dorset, with weekend departures linking the UK and France in two hours and 30 minutes. Ryanair has announced the addition of two new routes from Bournemouth Airport with flights to Bergerac in France and the resort of Zadar on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, starting next spring. With the new additions, Ryanair will operate 15 routes from Bournemouth in its 2021/22 schedule.
