easyJet has recently announced the opening of its first airport lounge in collaboration with No1 Lounges at the North Terminal at London Gatwick Airport. The new lounge was open for use on October 21, and can be booked in advance through easyJet’s exclusive partnership with Holiday Extras, online, on the day of travel. British Airways has announced the successful trial of mobile health pass, VeriFLY by Daon, and its subsequent rollout across its network. The airline has now signed a long-term agreement with Daon in an effort to make travel as hassle-free as possible for its customers. Travellers can upload any Covid-19 related documentation required for their destination, including vaccination records, negative Covid-19 results and government documents, straight into the VeriFLY mobile app so that they are verified before travel. Emirates has said that it has resumed its Newcastle service, reconnecting people and businesses in the North East with its growing global network. The Newcastle service follows the restart of operations to London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow over recent months as international travel resumed. The Newcastle service will operate four-times weekly and takes Emirates’ total UK weekly flights to 77. The new Newcastle service is being served by a Boeing 777-300ER widebody aircraft, offering passengers a choice between First, Business Class and Economy cabins. Dublin Airport has said that Aer Lingus will re-start its direct service from Dublin to San Francisco, starting from December 12, allowing customers to travel to the West Coast of the US. The new direct flights from Dublin to San Francisco will operate four times per week from December 12, 2021 to January 12, 2022 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Two additional flights will operate a week prior to Christmas and post-Christmas, from December 16 – December 18 and December 30 – January 1 for the festive season. British Airways has resumed its nonstop service between London via Heathrow Airport (LHR) and San Diego International Airport (SAN). The resumption comes after British Airways suspended the service in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Virgin Atlantic announced on Thursday October 14 that it is expanding its portfolio of flights to South Africa, following the country’s removal from the Red List. Last week, bookings to the region soared by 150 percent in 24 hours as a result of the UK Government’s updated travel advice. British Airways has announced the launch of its biggest schedule since March 2020, with additional services to cities across the globe. The airline has also announced the return of its first A380 aircraft in November. Jet2.com, the UK-based leisure airline, has launched ski flights to Austria and France from Bristol Airport for the first time. To celebrate the launch, the company has launched a £1 ski carriage promotion, offering skiers and snowboarders access to some of Europe’s most popular slopes for less. Jet2.com will operate to three ski destinations from Bristol Airport this winter, Chambery, Innsbruck and Salzburg. Low-cost airline Vueling has recently announced a new service from Cardiff to Paris, set to take off on November 2, 2021. The Cardiff-Paris route will be the fourth route in Vueling’s Cardiff programme, which currently consists of scheduled flights to Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and Alicante. Newcastle International Airport has said that Eurowings, the Lufthansa Group’s low cost airline, will return to the North East with the resumption of operations between Newcastle and the German city of Dusseldorf. The airline is now operating twice-weekly flights between the two cities, with over 500 seats on sale each week for passengers travelling for business, leisure or to visit friends and family.
