Virgin Atlantic, the British premier carrier, has said earlier this month that it will set up a base in Edinburgh later this year, offering direct flights to Barbados and Orlando. It’s the first time that Virgin Atlantic will operate international flights from the Scottish capital in its 37-year history. As international travel begins to resume, Emirates is planning to restart flights to Dubai from Newcastle Airport (NCL) from October 15. The UAE-based airline will resume services to its North-eastern hub with four weekly flights, all operated by B777 aircraft, across two classes. The first flight, EK033, will depart Dubai International (DXB) at 1430 and arrive in Newcastle (NCL) at 1910, while flight EK034 will depart Newcastle at 2110 and arrive in Dubai the following day at 0725. Norwich Airport has reported the resumption of flights to Guernsey this week with the first of five weekly Saturday services for those planning a holiday break in the Channel Islands. Eurostar, the high-speed rail link between the UK and mainland Europe, announced on Thursday August 19 that it is adding more trains between the UK and the continent in response to growing demand following the removal of quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers from France to the UK and the easing of restrictions for travel to Belgium and the Netherlands.
