The efforts are part of a large-scale aid effort targeted at regions…
Newlyweds are increasingly shunning the wedding list and asking for money as a wedding gift to put the cash towards a honeymoon. Research shows that 45% of couples would prefer guests to give them money, with 26% opting for vouchers towards a honeymoon. It’s becoming a growing trend for couples to ask for money as a wedding gift. Since the recession, it has become more acceptable to ask for money, either to put towards the honeymoon, or towards a major purchase. In the past couples may have been embarrassed to ask, but during these credit-crunching times, wedding guests are happy…
Yesterday the world famous round tower at Windsor Castle re-opened it’s doors to the public for the first time in almost 40 years. Closed in 1975 for construction work including under-pinning to stop subsidence, the tower was then converted into offices for the Royal Archives, and hasn’t open to the public until now. The 800-year-old landmark in Berkshire will no doubt be a top tourist attraction over the summer months. The re-opening will also be marked with a new tour ‘Conquer the Tower’. This will include walking up the 200 step to take in views over London and Windsor from…

An enjoyable holiday can often leave you with a few extra pounds, as well as the suntan. Delicious foreign food and lazy days in the sun, it’s not surprising holidaymakers pile the pounds. However, new research has found that the weight gained on a holiday can differ dramatically depending on the destination. Predictably, the US is one of the worst. Popular all-you-can-eat buffets, enormous portions had lead to many travellers gaining an average of 8lb on a two week trip to the USA. Following closely in second place is the Caribbean; it’s all-inclusive resorts left many holidaymakers…

Summer visitors to the Santa Barbara Zoo are delighted with its newest resident: a life-sized, adolescent Tyrannosaurus Rex that runs, roars, snorts, blinks, growls and even poops in the show “How to Train Your Dinosaur” running three times daily. Fifteen-feet from nose-to-tail and 7-feet tall, this amazingly lifelike dinosaur, named “Duncan,” was designed by the Chiodo Brothers, one of Hollywood’s top creature shops (“Dinner for Schmucks,” “Elf,” “Gremlins.”). During the family-friendly 15-minute lively show, the human hosts introduce Duncan and attempt to demonstrate the special care received by the Zoo’s animals – with hilarious results. Just as keepers have trained…
International travel is, for many, a prerequisite of a life well lived and has always carried some risks. In addition to the commonly-accepted risks of unfamiliar geography, alternate sets of laws, and language barriers, the millennium has ushered in some uniquely modern travel risks. Identity theft, and the technology that facilitates its growth, has become a global concern to all. Thieves – whether small scale or highly organized – know that travelers are out of their regular mode of organization and away from their day-to-day routines and, therefore, may not be as diligent in close track of their possessions or…
