Although Brits have always had Spain as a main stay for their summer holidays, it seems more people are jumping on board with the idea, with many more people searching for last minute holiday deals. Reasons seem to be varying as to why people are holding off for those last minute holidays and why Spain has again become a much bigger turn on for British tourists than in previous years. Places that cater to these…

While Tiger Woods has already declared he is unfit for this year’s British Open, the world of golf seems to have left him behind. After upstart Roy McIlory scored his first major victory at the US Open earlier this year, the refrain around PGA clubhouses in 2011 could easily be ‘Tiger who.’ HotelTravel.com Chief Marketing Officer, Tom Racette, said: “Roy McIlory is the face of professional golf for…

Damian Green today explained reforms the government is making to the student visa system to stop abuse and bring net migration down to sustainable levels. These reforms include an announcement last month that the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) will inspect and review educational standards in private institutions which are offering further education. Speaking at the QAA’s educational oversight conference, the minister said that it was the primary motivation of too many so-called students to come to the UK in order to work, rather than study, and that too many institutions were providing an immigration…

The most popular destinations are New Zealand and Australia, the survey by broker Foreign Currency Direct reveals. The firm’s director Stephen Hughes said: “Given the state of the UK economy it’s hardly surprising that so many self-employed people are considering moving their business interests abroad. “We’ve seen a significant jump in self-employed people…
When disaster strikes a country in the form of an epidemic, earthquakes or civil unrest, the devastating consequences of the crisis are often compounded by longer term economic fallout. However, a new survey by flights comparison site Skyscanner has revealed that mass media coverage of a negative event may have a positive rebound impact on tourism in the long term. Over 2500 travellers responded to the survey which found that over a third (36%) of Skyscanner…
