New Board Game “Aviopolis” Turns the World’s Major Airports Into a Playable Map

A new board game is inviting aviation enthusiasts and strategy fans alike to explore the world’s busiest airports in an entirely new way. Aviopolis, a negotiation-based tabletop game inspired by the realities of airport terminals and life on board, transforms global aviation hubs into an interactive and highly playable map.

Launched in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, on 9 February 2026, Aviopolis is the first board game dedicated entirely to international airports and aviation strategy. Blending light-hearted gameplay with elements drawn from everyday airport operations, the game brings the excitement and occasional chaos of global air travel to the tabletop in an accessible, engaging format.

The game was conceived and authored by Diego Contino, Director of Communication Strategy and Media Relations at Cabinair Group and already known for creating board games that blend strategy, storytelling and cultural identity, with the graphic design of Micol Colucci.

Designed as both an entertaining experience and a cultural homage to the aviation industry, Aviopolis invites players to step into a world of international airports, cutting-edge terminals and high-stakes decisions. From Rome to Tokyo, from Dubai to New York, players acquire, manage and develop airports, services and infrastructure while navigating unexpected events such as overbookings, turbulence and operational disruptions.

Playable with 2 to 6 players, Aviopolis offers multiple game modes (short, long and full game), combining strategic thinking, negotiation and investment planning in an accessible and engaging format.

A game born from aviation culture

Unlike traditional board games, Aviopolis is deeply rooted in real aviation concepts: airport management, operational efficiency, infrastructure investments and risk mitigation. Players compete to build the strongest aviation portfolio, aiming to become the richest and most successful aviation manager at the table.

“Aviopolis is not just a game; it’s a narrative experience” said Diego Contino. “ It translates the complexity of aviation into a fun, strategic journey that anyone can enjoy, whether they work in the industry or simply love it.”

The launch of Aviopolis coincides with Cabinair Group’s 20th anniversary and the start of a new Aviation Creative Studio in Lecce, Italy, focused on web design, 3D and multimedia projects developed for the group and for partners and corporate stakeholders globally.

“Aviopolis was created as a light-hearted tribute to our world” said Vito Mirko Giacovelli, Commercial Director of Cabinair Group. “It celebrates the hard work and the passion that drives everyone who works in aviation every single day.“
