The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is set to expand its global engagement by introducing two significant events later this year. These events are expected to enhance trade relations and provide first-hand experiences for participants.

Planned to be held in Gibraltar and Barcelona, these events will focus on destination training, ship familiarisation, and networking opportunities. CLIA aims to cater to the rising demand for immersive cruise experiences by organising these forward-thinking initiatives.

    Destination Showcase Returns to Gibraltar

Scheduled for 15-17 September, the Destination Showcase marks CLIA’s return to Gibraltar. This event will involve destination training and business sessions, aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of this unique locale.

In partnership with Visit Gibraltar, the event will also include local tours and ship visits featuring Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam and the Azamara Quest. Participants will benefit from preferential hotel rates, promising a seamless experience.

Introducing the CLIA Weekender in Barcelona

Launching from 24 October, the CLIA Weekender in Barcelona offers a fresh platform for industry interaction. Delegates will have the opportunity to visit renowned ships and engage with leading cruise brands.

Confirmed vessels for this event include the Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, MSC World Europa, and Explora Journeys’ EXPLORA II. A reception will be held, and free time is included to explore Barcelona’s vibrant culture.

    Strategic Importance of New Locations

The choice of Gibraltar and Barcelona underscores CLIA’s strategic focus on diverse and influential cruise destinations. These locations are pivotal for expanding market reach.

Both events are designed to allow agents to gain first-hand insight into cruise operations and enhance their sales strategies. This initiative is part of CLIA’s broader efforts to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

    Insight from Industry Leaders

Andy Harmer, CLIA’s managing director for UK & Ireland, emphasised the increasing demand for immersive cruise experiences. He noted the significance of these events in providing compelling insights for cruise selling.

Tourism Minister Christian Santos expressed enthusiasm for showcasing Gibraltar’s attractions to cruise professionals, highlighting Gibraltar as a must-visit destination.

    Addressing Industry Trends

The events will also focus on current industry trends such as shifting demographics and the rise in expedition popularity. By doing so, CLIA aligns its initiatives with market dynamics.

Delegates will gain understanding on strategic trends through business sessions and networking, equipping them with knowledge to leverage these trends effectively.

    Benefits of Participation

Attendees are expected to gain valuable exposure, enhancing their knowledge base and professional networks. These events serve as critical platforms for experience sharing and learning.

Participants will leave with enriched expertise, positioned to capitalise on new cruise trends and client demands. This aligns with CLIA’s commitment to industry advancement.

    Future Prospects for CLIA Events

CLIA’s efforts to continuously expand its event portfolio signify its commitment to industry growth. These initiatives are set to foster greater collaboration and innovation.

As CLIA develops more such events, the cruise industry can look forward to sustained growth and enriched stakeholder engagement.

In conclusion, CLIA’s forthcoming events in Gibraltar and Barcelona represent strategic steps towards fostering deeper industry connections and knowledge exchange. These initiatives highlight CLIA’s dedication to adapting to market trends and promoting experiential learning.
