Angus Struthers, the global marketing and EMEA sales vice president at Cunard, is stepping down. This marks the end of his impactful 11-year tenure.

As Cunard prepares to launch the new Queen Anne, Struthers’ departure highlights a pivotal moment for the company, signalling both change and opportunity.

Cunard is set for a significant change in its leadership as Angus Struthers, the global marketing and EMEA sales vice president, will be stepping down. This transition follows his substantial involvement in the launch of the new ship Queen Anne, which marks a pivotal moment for the company.

Struthers has been a vital part of the Cunard team for nearly 11 years, influencing key aspects like brand development and digital transformation. His departure comes at a time when Cunard is witnessing its strongest booking figures in a decade.

Throughout his tenure, Struthers played a crucial role in evolving the Cunard brand and boosting its commercial growth. He was instrumental in the ‘Remastering’ of Queen Mary 2 and the introduction of Cunard’s Event Voyage programme.

Under Struthers’ leadership, Cunard celebrated its 175th anniversary with grand events in Liverpool and prepared for the eagerly anticipated arrival of Queen Anne, the first new ship in 14 years, demonstrating his commitment to pushing boundaries and achieving excellence.

Katie McAlister, president of Cunard, praised Struthers’ enthusiasm and dedication. She highlighted his significant role in the brand’s evolution, ensuring its prominent status within the cruise industry.

She stated, “Angus has been at the heart of the Cunard brand evolution and commercial growth over the last decade. As the brand continues to strengthen, I extend my gratitude for his incredible contribution.”

Reflecting on his time with Cunard, Struthers expressed pride in the successes the company achieved under his leadership.

He remarked, “Cunard is an incredible brand, and I look back with much pride at the many successes we’ve achieved.” As he prepares to seek new ventures, he looks forward to witnessing Cunard’s continued success.

With Struthers’ impending departure, Cunard faces the task of steering its future strategy to maintain the positive momentum established under his leadership. This transition period will be critical for maintaining market confidence.

The cruise industry is highly competitive, and Cunard’s next steps will be important for sustaining its growth and enhancing its brand value.

The announcement of Struthers’ departure has elicited discussions within the travel and cruise industry about leadership changes and their impact on business strategies.

Stakeholders in the industry are keenly observing how Cunard will navigate this transition and what it means for future marketing and sales initiatives.

Cunard is gearing up for a new era, seeking to uphold the innovative spirit and strategic advancements made during Struthers’ tenure. The introduction of Queen Anne is seen as a stepping stone to further achievements.

Cunard faces a new chapter as Angus Struthers departs, but the company’s future remains bright, with strong foundations laid for continued success.

The strategic direction post-Struthers will be vital in capitalising on Cunard’s current achievements and driving future growth.
