Viking has entered into a new agreement with Fincantieri to build two additional ocean cruise ships, marking a significant development in their ongoing partnership. The deal reflects the continuous growth and recovery of the cruise market in the wake of the pandemic.

Contracts have been finalised between Viking and the Italian shipyard, Fincantieri, to construct two new ocean cruise ships. These vessels, each with a capacity to accommodate 998 passengers, are projected for completion and delivery by 2028 and 2029, respectively. The financial details of this agreement, although not disclosed, are considered to be substantial.

Viking’s expanding fleet highlights its strategic focus on sustainability and innovation. The new ships will be equipped to utilise both current and future energy resources, aligning with industry goals to achieve zero emissions eventually.

This development complements previous orders secured by Fincantieri, strengthening its commercial operations. The shipyard’s order book has been augmented with these new contracts, reflecting the growing demand for cruise tourism.

The collaboration has consistently delivered ships that meet high standards of elegance and efficiency. Viking’s fleet, renowned for its uniform design and sophisticated features, will continue to grow with these upcoming vessels.

Folgiero’s remarks highlight the strategic alignment between Viking and Fincantieri towards pioneering advancements in shipbuilding, focusing on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The shipyard’s dedication to integrating cutting-edge technology and sustainability in its projects enhances its competitive edge in the global maritime industry.

Viking’s strategic growth trajectory includes the introduction of these new vessels, which are likely to set new standards in the luxury cruise industry. This expansion aims to meet the evolving travel expectations of its clientele while maintaining the brand’s reputation for quality and service.
