British Airways has said that it will launch two new winter-only ski routes from Manchester and also extending its weekly service to London City Airport in December.

The airline is planning to start weekly flights to Salzburg in Austria and Chambery in France, operating every Saturday from December until April, 2018. Basic each way fares to both cities start from £49, and are available to book on www.ba.com

Flights to London City Airport will operate northbound on Fridays and southbound on Sundays, conveniently scheduled for business customers.

The airline has launched summer season flights from Manchester earlier this year, to popular leisure destinations in Europe including Alicante, Malaga, Ibiza and Palma, Mykonos, Nice and London City. While these flights operate until October, the London City service will resume on December 15 along with flights to Salzburg and Chambery, it said. The airline also operates up to 10 return flights a day between Manchester and London Heathrow.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager customer and commercial, said: ‘After a successful new summer programme from Manchester we have decided to continue our leisure flying with direct services to two of the most popular winter break destinations in Austria and France.’

Flights to Salzburg will operate every Saturday departing Manchester at 13.05 hours, arriving in Salzburg at 16.20 hours, with the return flight at 17.10 hours, arriving in Manchester at 18.30 hours. Flights to Chambery will operate every Saturday departing Manchester at 0700 hours and arriving in Chambery at 10.00 hours, with the return flight at 10.55 hours, arriving in Manchester at 12.00 hours. Flights to London City will operate every Sunday from Manchester at 13.30 hours and from London City to Manchester every Friday at 20.30 hours.

All flights will operate on modern Embraer 190 jet aircraft, with spacious cabins and two abreast seating so every customer can have an aisle or window sea, the airline said.

In addition, Club Europe and eligible Executive Club customers will be able to use the rooftop British Airways Terraces Lounge at Manchester Airport. Club customers receive complimentary food and drinks on board, a generous free baggage allowance and free seat selection and on-line check-in, it added.
