European regional airline easyJet has recently launched its first ever flight from Bristol to Athens, according to a release by Bristol Airport.

The new route to the capital city of Greece is part of Bristol’s ongoing expansion and comes after the launch of the first easyJet flight to Stockholm earlier this month.

Bristol’s holidaymakers and business travellers can now travel to Athens with fares starting from £26.49 one way. easyJet will operate the new year-round route from Bristol to Athens, twice per week on the Airbus A320.

Ali Gayward, UK Country Manager, said: ‘We are excited to be providing this route from Bristol airport to the fantastic city of Athens. As Greece’s capital, Athens offers history and culture with its ancient landmarks, museums and galleries, and provides lots to see and do.

‘We believe this route will also provide very popular with Bristol’s business travellers, as well as attracting inbound traffic for Greek nationals wanting to access the South West of England.

‘easyJet is excited to continue to grow and expand in Bristol, continuing to make travel easy and affordable.’

Nigel Scott, Business Development Director, Bristol Airport said: ‘We are delighted with the announcement of a year round service commencing between Bristol and Athens. We recognise there is a strong Greek community in the area and the new destination will appeal to both business and leisure passengers.

‘It adds another capital city to the route network, extending the choice available to passengers from the South West and Wales region.

‘This route will also support inbound tourism using Bristol Airport as the gateway to visitors whether it is to see the range of coastal harbours, tourist venues, historic attractions or the vibrant cities the region has to offer.’
