Flybe Announces New Glasgow to East Midlands Service

Flybe, a UK-based airline company, has announced that it will be operating an expanded schedule from East Midlands Airport, in England, which includes a new route to Glasgow Airport, in Scotland.

The new service is due to commence from September 10, 2012, operating on the popular route that was previously served by UK-based, bmi baby airline, until June 2012.

The new service, which will be providing three flights per day between Monday and Friday, is intended to offer flights that are timed to allow business travellers to benefit from same day return travel, as well as onward connections to the Highlands and Islands from Glasgow, with the airline’s franchise partner, Loganair. The airline will be offering a single return flight on Saturdays and a twice-daily return flight on Sundays.

Andrew Strong, the managing director for Flybe UK, said, ‘We have strived to create a schedule that appeals to both business and leisure travellers and so are pleased with the response with the take up of our early morning southbound and evening northbound flights in particular. This confirms the importance of this route which provides a crucial link to the industries based in the East Midlands.’

Francois Bourienne, the commercial director at Glasgow Airport, said, ‘Flybe’s decision to reintroduce this service is excellent news for our customers. Prior to its withdrawal, bmi baby’s Glasgow to East Midlands service was hugely popular with both business and leisure passengers and this decision further demonstrate Flybe’s commitment to Glasgow Airport and the West of Scotland.’
