Doncaster Sheffield Airport has announced the introduction of eight new routes, including two major European hub airports, which will be operated by UK-based budget airline Flybe starting March 2016.

Accordingly, from March 27, 2016, Flybe will serve new routes to Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Jersey, Newquay, Malaga, Alicante and Faro. These services to countries are expected to offer travellers and holiday-makers a mix of ideal city break opportunities and sunshine destinations.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: ‘This is fantastic news for the Sheffield City Region. Flybe will be taking passengers to eight destinations from the end of March 2016.

‘The routes include two hub feeder services to Paris and Amsterdam which offers global connectivity. This will benefit businesses from across the region and this new wave of connectivity will take the airport and the city region to the next level.

‘We have worked extremely closely with the Flybe team to ensure that the route network meets the needs of the region.’

Phil Delaney, sales and distribution director, for Flybe added, ‘We’re excited to confirm our new schedule from Doncaster Sheffield Airport today. We are confident we have created a schedule that delivers attractive travel options that are both appealing and affordable for Summer 2016 as well as providing opportunities for onward global connections.

‘Flybe prides itself on offering great value fares and a convenient, fast, reliable service to some very popular destinations. We look forward to our expanded operations taking off from Yorkshire and to welcoming all our new passengers on board next March.’

With the new routes, Flybe will become the largest low-fares airline to operate from the Airport, with around 44 departures per week and almost half a million seats on the new routes in their first year of operation.

Tickets on the new routes are available for booking at www.flybe.com with one way fares from £29.99 (including taxes and charges), and currently available for travel from March 27 through to September 30, 2016.
