Loganair has said that it will operate three flights per day between Southampton and Newcastle from May next year.
The addition of the third daily service follows the success of Loganair’s Summer 2022 season and increased demand for the popular Southampton Newcastle service. One of these daily services will also include an onward connection to Southampton’s sister airport in Aberdeen. Customers travelling to the Granite City will not need to leave the aircraft on the one-stop flight.
Christopher Tibbett, Group Head of Airline Relations and Marketing for Southampton Airport, said: ‘Newcastle was very popular this summer, so it’s fantastic that the service will be increased next year and deliver even more choice and flexibility for our passengers.
‘We are also delighted to see the return of the onward service to Aberdeen International Airport.’
As well as the shopping, leisure and cultural offerings available in Newcastle, it has a vibrant nightlife and industrial heritage. Loganair also uses the city to connect passengers to further locations on its route network.
Luke Lovegrove, Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair, said: ‘This bumper schedule for 2023 underlines our commitment to Newcastle with our biggest ever programme for the city, offering customers more choice of destinations, frequency and capacity than ever before.
‘It has been a very positive year for Loganair at Newcastle and we are excited to see that success continue into 2023.’
