Monarch Airlines to Allow Two Items of Hand Baggage

Monarch Airlines, a UK-based airline company, is offering increased baggage allowance for passengers on scheduled flights.

The leisure air carrier will be offering the capacity from November 1, 2012, when it will be providing new gauges at airports to assist passengers in checking the specified size of hand baggage. Passengers may carry up to two pieces, weighing up to a total of 10kg, which can be a cabin bag and a handbag, or a cabin bag and a laptop bag. One of the bags must be kept in the overhead locker, and the other must be stowed away below the seat.

Kevin George, the managing director of Monarch Airlines, said, ‘We are pleased to be able to respond positively to the needs of our customers and adjust our service accordingly.

Our passengers have told us how important it is for them to be allowed two items and, working with our airport partners, we have been able to change our policy to suit them.’

The new hand baggage allowance will be offered on all of Monarch’s scheduled flights, except those departing London Luton Airport. Passengers departing from Luton will only be allowed one bag of a specific size.

The hand baggage allowance for charter flights will be around 5kg for a bag that measures 56cm x 40cm x 25cm.

For passengers travelling to noted ski regions in the Winter of 2012/13, the airline is offering to carry skis free of charge on its new routes to Grenoble in France, Innsbruck in Austria and Friedrichshafen and Munich airports in Germany. The offer is available to all passengers on these routes that book their travel before December 31, 2012.
