    Ryanair announces new summer routes from Birmingham, Newcastle

    Irish low-fare airline Ryanair has announced a new route from Birmingham to Corfu, which is set to start from April 26 with a weekly service, as part of its Birmingham Summer 2016 schedule that will be launched shortly.

    Ryanair celebrated the launch of its new Corfu route by releasing seats at prices from £19.99 for travel in November and December.

    As Ryanair doubled its Corfu traffic, the budget airline also said that it will open a new base at Corfu (No. 75), from April 2016, with one based aircraft and 11 new routes to Birmingham, Bratislava, Budapest, Cologne, Rome, Katowice, Poznan, Pisa, Rzeszow, Venice and Warsaw. The Irish airline also added more flights to Brussels Charleroi (to two weekly), East Midlands (one to two weekly), London Stansted (four to five) and Milan Bergamo (four to five weekly), which will deliver 300,000 customers per annum and support 225 ‘on-site’ jobs. The airline will operate 21 routes in total from Corfu.

    Separately, Ryanair also announced the launch its summer 2016 Newcastle schedule with two new routes to Alicante and Malaga, expected to deliver 270,000 customers per annum and support 200 ‘on-site’ jobs at Newcastle Airport. With the existing Dublin route (nine weekly), Ryanair will serve a total of three routes from Newcastle in summer 2016, operating 18 weekly flights.

    As part of celebrating the launch of its Newcastle summer 2016 schedule, Ryanair released 100,000 seats for sale across its European network at fares starting from £17.99, which are available for booking until midnight Sunday (October 18) at www.ryanair.com.

    In Newcastle, Ryanair’s deputy director of Route Development, Kate Sherry said: ‘Ryanair is pleased to launch our Summer 2016 Newcastle schedule, with 2 new routes to Alicante and Malaga as well as a route to Dublin, which will deliver over 270,000 customers p.a.( an extra 110,000) and support 200’on-site’ jobs at Newcastle Airport.
