British Travellers Searching For European Destinations This Summer

The summer travel bug is biting as British residents look to escape the UK’s depressing run of bad weather and head off to sunnier climes.

For those holidaymakers that are yet to decide on a holiday, France, Italy, Greece and Spain, are proving to be the biggest draw this summer, according to car hire specialist, 121carhire.com.

British travellers are likely to get as much as 15 percent more value for money by visiting these European countries, as the British pound strengthens against the wavering Euro, following the recent Eurozone crisis.

Michael Bond, the spokesperson for 121carhire.com, said, ‘We’ve definitely seen a change in booking this summer, European destinations have always been popular but bookings are a lot less widespread globally as customers seem to want to escape the UK and take advantage of the Euro exchange rate.

There is still availability on a range of cars, but if you have specific requests – such as for a people carrier, or for child seats – the best advice is to book as early as possible, and compare prices from a wide range of rental companies to ensure you get the best deal.’

Currently car rental bargains commence at £15 per day at Malaga Airport, £17 per day at Crete Airport, 14 per day at Faro Airport, and from £15 per day at Pisa Airport.

Earlier ABTA reported that an estimated 13 million UK holidaymakers have plans to go abroad in July and August, 2012, with more travellers showing a preference for Eurozone destinations this summer than last year.
