Peppers Retreats and Resorts, an Australia-based hotel company, has announced the addition of a new resort, the Awaroa Lodge, in Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand, to its portfolio.
The Awaroa Lodge will reopen as Peppers Awaroa Lodge on September 26, 2012. The luxury property is located within the natural wilderness of the Abel Tasman National Park, and is accessible on foot via the famed Abel Tasman Coast Track. The resort is also accessible by Kayaks from Totaranui, by a water taxi from Kaiteriteri or Marahau, or by helicopter from Nelson, Motueka or Wellington, in New Zealand.
The lodge has 26 contemporary villas, including 12 Superior Suites. The facilities also include conference facilities and sustainable tourism initiatives.
The Peppers Awaroa Lodge is a contributor to the Nelson-Tasman Sustainable Tourism Charter, which defines sustainable practices for local tourism businesses. The property is also a participant in Green Globe 21, an environmental standard for Eco Tourism.
The company regional general manager for New Zealand, Ken Harris, said, ‘Awaroa Lodge is a superb acquisition for the Peppers network and a testament to our commitment to growth in New Zealand.’
The new property is part of six Peppers resorts and retreats located in New Zealand. The company had previously launched the Peppers Parehua Retreat in February 2012, and Cradle Mountain Lodge was added to its portfolio in March 2012.
The other properties in New Zealand include Peppers on the Point Rotorua, Peppers Clearwater Resort, Christchurch, Peppers Bluewater Resort Lake Tekapo, and Peppers Beacon Queenstown.
