Phuket and its islands are ideal for sailing, diving and snorkelling, golfing and all kinds of sports and entertainment you can wish for. You can take trips to the islands on private boat charters, laze on pristine white sand beaches and get great discounts when you go shopping. However, if you’d like to try something out of the ordinary, here are some ideas for excursions within striking range of Phuket.

Snorkeling in the Phi Phi Islands
Famous for their numerous appearances in Hollywood films, no trip to Phuket is complete without a visit to the Phi Phi Islands. These two stunningly beautiful limestone islands rise out of the warm turquoise sea and are just under an hour speedboat trip away from Phuket. Their shallow coral gardens and crystal clear waters are perfect for snorkeling.

    Rock Climbing in Krabi
The sheer limestone cliffs of Railay Beach in Krabi provide a perfect climbing experience with stunning views of the surrounding scenery. Several climbing schools offer personalized instruction and all equipment. Only a three hour car trip from Phuket, Krabi has dozens of white powder beaches and is well worth a visit.

Sail Phang Nga Bay in a Chinese Junk
Cruise from Phuket to Phang Nga Bay in a traditional Chinese junk, with stops at the famous James Bond Island and the Sea Gypsy village, a village built over the water on long legged stilts. Phang Nga Bay is glassy smooth and provides a blissful sailing experience.

    Khao Lak Trekking and Rafting
Just an hour away from Phuket is the Khao Lak Elephant Trekking and Bamboo Rafting experience. Spend the morning enjoying the sights and sounds of the cool, green rainforest by elephant back, then after a waterfall swim, the afternoon is spent tranquilly gliding down river by bamboo raft.

    Sea Cave Kayaking by Starlight
The magical limestone sea caves of Phang Nga bay can only be entered by canoe and only when the tide is just right. You can skip the crowds by taking the starlight tour and discover an awe inspring world of hidden, majestic caverns in total silence, allowing you to completely absorb the fantastic splendor of your surroundings.
