Princess Cruises, a cruise ship company with its corporate headquarters in Southampton, UK, has announced details of the inaugural celebrations for its new liner, Royal Princess.
The company has organised a number of events to take place in Southampton this coming June to celebrate the arrival of the vessel and introduce it to the public. The ship will arrive on June 7 at Ocean Cruise Terminal, Southampton, and following the naming celebrations on June 12 and 13, which are set to be the highlight of the festivities, Royal Princess will depart on her maiden voyage on June 16.
Among the invited guests are 10,000 passengers of Princess Cruises’ previous voyages, and 2,000 travel agents, all of whom will be welcomed aboard to inspect the company’s new offering.
Princess Cruises UK director, Paul Ludlow, commented, ‘We are delighted that Royal Princess will have her inauguration here in Southampton. We have a number of exciting events planned to ensure that our UK past passengers and travel agents are amongst the first to experience all Royal Princess has to offer.
‘This opportunity for British passengers to see Royal Princess highlights the growing popularity of Princess Cruises in the UK and the importance of this country to the Princess Cruises brand.
‘As befits a launch of this stature, we are currently finalising plans for the naming to ensure that the celebration captures the spirit of the occasion. I look forward to sharing more details soon.’
Prior to the vessel’s official maiden voyage, Princess Cruises is offering berths for two, two-night preview cruises from Southampton to the Channel Islands with a visit to St Peter Port, Guernsey. These depart on June 9 and 14 and are now available for booking.
