Half term holidays are gaining favour with UK families, following the recent spate of rain.
While severe weather warnings are only just abating in the UK, many parents are considering a holiday to warmer locations of Spain, Turkey and Portugal for the October half term breaks to take advantage of the bargains that are currently on offer.
According to the UK based car hire comparison company, comparecarhire.co.uk, in 2012 October half term bookings are on an increase over October 2011.
Andy Hemmington, the spokesperson of Comparecarhire.co.uk, said, ‘For some families the September storms have dampened spirits and driven Brits to book a break in the sun for half term. The weather is still warm in Europe’s most popular holiday destinations in October, particularly when compared with the weather in the UK, so it still remains a busy period for the travel industry. However, this doesn’t mean prices need to be high – there are some great deals out there to be had by holidaymakers.’
The half term vacations in autumn are generally from the end of October to the first week of November, for around a week, and a lot of destinations are offering deals at low prices as the summer rush is over now.
Haven Holidays, a UK based holiday park operator, is offering a three night break in a superior self-catering holiday home, for a family of up to six people, for £159 on arriving on October 22, 2012; and for seven nights in similar accommodation for prices commencing from £219 for stays commencing on October 19, 2012.
Comparecarhire.co.uk is reporting that a week of car hire for the period from Malaga or Faro Airport in Spain will be available for prices commencing at £6 per day; and from Palma de Mallorca airport for £9 per day.
