Morgans Hotel Group, a New York-based hospitality company, is to open the London Hudson hotel in the UK capital in 2015.
MHG has a twenty-year management agreement on the boutique-style property, which will be a 200-room sister hotel to the company’s original Hudson branded property that is undergoing a renovation and re-launch in New York, US. That development has seen an investment of $30 million, and includes a complete renovation of the hotel’s 834 rooms, with new furnishings, upgraded technology and state-of-the-art lighting.
Commenting on the announcement of the London development, Michael Gross, the chief executive officer of Morgans Hotel Group, said, ‘We are delighted to announce the development of our first international Hudson-branded hotel. Hudson is our gateway brand, offering guests a unique and social experience, in a creative, unexpected environment. We are looking forward to bringing the spirit of our celebrated New York property to a global stage, and elevating Hudson into a truly international brand.’
The Hudson New York updates should be completed by this autumn, and if the London property is to follow in its style, it is likely to have a bar that blends 1940’s style French decor with a rock and roll edge. The bars and all public spaces have been designed in collaboration with design group, Rottet Studios.
Located in midtown, Hudson New York claims to be the ultimate lifestyle hotel for the 21st Century, and a brilliant reflection of the boldness and diversity of the city. London awaits its version with eager anticipation.
