Travelodge Opens Four New Hotels in London in July

Travelodge Hotels, a US-based company that owns and operates hotel properties, has announced the opening four new properties in London in July 2012, making it the largest hotel brand in London for the 2012 Olympics.

The company has provided around £36 million in investment to open new Travelodge brand properties in the Balham, Enfield, ExCel and Woolwich areas of London. With the new properties, the company has around 54 hotels in London, offering a total of 7,024 rooms.

The company currently has plans to open another four hotels in London after the Olympics, offering a total of 1,015 additional rooms.

Grant Hearn, the chief executive of Travelodge Hotels, said, ‘To be London’s largest hotel brand at the start of the Olympics is an achievement that everyone in the business is proud of. Our growth strategy for the capital is not however based around the Olympics. We have long recognised that London has a shortage of good quality, affordable hotel rooms, not just in the centre but also in the suburbs.

We will be opening a further four hotels in London after the Games and five more next year. We are also actively looking for a further fifty sites across the capital to ensure that we can meet the clear demand there is for affordable hotel rooms.’

For the period from June 19, 2012 to September 9, 2012, the company has released around 30,000 rooms across London, priced from £25.50 to £95, for budget conscious tourists visiting the city for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
