Jet2.com announces expanded winter programme, opens operational base at Tenerife South Airport

The UK-based travel and holiday company Jet2.com has announced the expansion of its flights programme to the Canary Islands for this winter, adding that it has opened an operational base at Tenerife South Airport to support the winter programme.

Jet2 has added over 200,000 departing seats from across nine of its UK bases this winter, in response to increasing demand from British holidaymakers looking to visit Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.

To support this expanded Canary Islands operation, the company has opened an Operational Base at Tenerife South Airport, enabling it to have a spare aircraft and replacement crew on permanent standby. The new base will support an expanded flying programme, with daily and multiple weekly flights operating to Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria this winter.

The Telegraph Travel Awards are based on the opinions of thousands of holidaymakers, who had voted their choice of airlines, both short-haul and long-haul. Jet2 announces more flights to Canaries from Belfast International Airport

The UK-based travel and holiday company Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has announced more seats and holidays for Summer 2020 in the Canary Islands from Belfast International Airport in response to extra demand from Northern Ireland holidaymakers.

Jet2 said that it has added 10,000 departing seats to Tenerife and around 10,000 departing seats to Lanzarote. The latest expansion would mean that nearly 130,000 seats will be on sale to the Canary Islands from Belfast International Airport in Summer 2020, an increase of 33 percent on Summer 19.

With 11 weekly flights to the Canary Islands, the expansion includes additional weekly Monday services to Tenerife from May through to October, as Jet2 will operate up to four weekly services to Tenerife during this period. An additional Tuesday service will be added to Lanzarote from May through to October, offering up to three weekly flights to this popular Canary Islands hotspot.

In addition to the services to Lanzarote and Tenerife, Jet2 will also offer two weekly services to both Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura from Belfast International Airport for Summer 2020.

Other key highlights on Jet2’s Summer 2020 programme include: over 50 departing weekly flights during peak periods, increased seats to sunshine favourites Palma (Majorca), Malaga, Malta and Reus (Costa Dorada); weekly services to Antalya and Izmir on top of twice weekly services to Dalaman, Turkey.

Further, over 10,000 seats will be on sale to Cyprus, weekly services will be operated to the Greek sun spots in Crete (Heraklion), Rhodes or Zante, increased choice and flexibility to hotspots such as Costa de Almeria, Alicante, Girona (Costa Brava), Ibiza and Menorca; up to five weekly services to Faro (Algarve, with flights on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; services every Sunday to Naples, from April until November; and a weekly Tuesday service to Bourgas (Bulgaria) operating on larger aircraft.

Jet2.com announces summer 2020 programme from Edinburgh Airport

British travel and holiday company Jet2.com has announced its summer-20 programme from Edinburgh Airport, with 33 destinations including the new destination of Izmir in Turkey.

With the capacity expansion, over 850,000 seats are now on sale, including across Europe, the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands, next summer.

The new flights to Izmir will operate every Tuesday from May to October, when holidaymakers can also access popular resorts on the west coast of Turkey such as Kusadasi, Cesme, Ozdere and Seferihisar. In addition to Izmir, Jet2 will operate more flights and seats to Antalya and Dalaman next summer, as well as continue its popular weekly service to Bodrum. Jet2 currently operates three weekly services to Antalya and Dalaman.

As part of its summer 2020 programme from Edinburgh Airport, Jet2 will have over 80 departing weekly flights during peak periods. The key highlights include flights to Canary Islands, with up to 12 weekly services to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, and additional flights to Tenerife.

Further, the airline will operate daily services to the sunshine destinations of Palma (Majorca), Alicante and Faro as well as increased service to Malaga with five weekly flights, and Ibiza with four weekly flights. Jet2 will also offer more choice to Spain and its islands, with three weekly services to Reus (Costa Dorada), two weekly services to Girona (Costa Brava) and a weekly service to Menorca.

In addition, the airline offers nine weekly services to Greece, including two weekly services to Crete (Heraklion), Zante and Rhodes, as well as weekly services to Corfu, Kos and Halkidiki; two weekly services Paphos and a weekly service to Larnaca in Cyprus; additional frequency, two weekly services to Bourgas, Bulgaria; weekly services to Dubrovnik, in addition to weekly services Pula and Split in Croatia; and three weekly services to Venice, as well as two weekly services to Naples and Verona in Italy.

Thomas Cook Airlines expands winter schedule at Birmingham and Glasgow

Thomas Cook Airlines has announced its new Winter-2016 schedules from Birmingham and Glasgow, adding extra A321 aircrafts at the two airports to support the expansion of services.

For winter sun seekers flying from Birmingham in 2016, the new A321 aircraft will add 30,000 more available seats. While services to Gambia will increase from one flight per week to two, Tenerife flights will increase from one to four per week; Lanzarote from two to three weekly flights; and Gran Canaria is new with one flight per week.

Customers can now buy return flights to Banjul on the new aircraft for Winter 2016 priced from £324.99 return; and Tenerife from £91.98 based on a seven-day stay.

Thomas Cook Airlines has also announced plans to base an extra new aircraft at Glasgow to support its newly launched Winter 2016 programme there.

At Glasgow Airport, sun seekers will be offered an additional 25,000 seats available to the Canaries throughout the winter from the fleet of three full-time A321s. There is also an additional five flights per week to the popular Canary Islands: Tenerife flights increase from seven to eight a week; Lanzarote moves up from two to four per week; Gran Canaria from one to two per week; and Fuerteventura will move from two to three per week. Return flights to the Canary Islands are available from £129.98 return in November 2016.
