First DoubleTree by Hilton in Ireland Welcomes Guests

The Morrison Dublin, a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, has opened in Ireland, bringing the upmarket, Doubletree, hotel brand to Ireland for the first time.

Hilton Worldwide, the brand owner, had earlier entered into a franchise agreement with the owners of the existing Morrison Hotel in Dublin, and the new hotel has been converted from the 138-room property with the completion of a €7 million refurbishment.

Martinez Hotels and Resorts will operate the new hotel.

The UK and Ireland director for Martinez Hotels and Resorts, Stephen Mulligan, said, ‘We set out with a very ambitious timeline for this project so we’re delighted to be opening the hotel on schedule and with the support of our new partners, Hilton Worldwide. The refurbishment coincides with a busier than normal event calendar for Ireland this year, and we believe the reopening will not only benefit the long term patrons of the Morrison, but will also contribute to the vibrancy of this up-and-coming part of Dublin.’

The Morrison, is located on Lower Ormond Quay, in Dublin’s city centre, and is close to the Templebar, Jervis Street and Henry Street shopping and dining areas. The hotel amenities include a split level, 24-hour fitness centre, on-site dining at The Morrison Grill and Quay 14 bar, flexible meeting space, complimentary high-speed internet access and a 24-hour business centre.

DoubleTree by Hilton Announces New Hotel in Scotland

The DoubleTree by Hilton hotel brand is to open its new DoubleTree by Hilton Dundee hotel in Scotland, after Hilton Worldwide, the brand owner, entered into a franchise agreement with BDL Select Operations Limited.

The new hotel will be converted from the previous Landmark Hotel, a 95-guestroom property, and is expected to open in spring of 2013. The hotel will be located in a 100-year-old listed mansion house, and its neighbouring gardens.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, the Hilton Worldwide senior vice president of development, for Europe and Africa, said, ‘DoubleTree by Hilton is one of our most successful growth brands in the UK and we’re delighted to be introducing it to Dundee. The hotel will join more than 9 other UK properties, which have been welcomed into the brand in less than 12 months, for a total of 18 in the UK, 36 across Europe with a further 20 in the pipeline for the continent.

Once converted, DoubleTree by Hilton Dundee will serve as a perfect example of the benefits the brand offers guests and owners alike. The hotel will keep a strong sense of its unique heritage and identity whilst also benefiting from Hilton Worldwide’s global systems and Hilton HHonors guest loyalty programme.’

The hotel will have five meeting rooms, a restaurant inside a conservatory, a health club, spa and indoor swimming pool.

DoubleTree by Hilton Opens New Hotel in London

DoubleTree by Hilton brand has opened its newest London hotel property, DoubleTree by Hilton London – Marble Arch, close to Marble Arch station.

The hotel, which was recently officially opened by Ufi Ibrahim, the chief executive of the British Hospitality Association, is located in the heart of London, offering easy access to shopping and the city’s other attractions and business districts.

Rob Palleschi, the global head of the DoubleTree by Hilton brand of Hilton Hotels and Resorts, said, ‘DoubleTree by Hilton is delighted to welcome this historic and beautifully renovated property to our exciting portfolio of U.K. hotels.

The hotel, previously known as the Best Western Premier Mostyn Hotel, is offering high-speed Wi-Fi, dining options that include Texture, a modern European restaurant and champagne bar, the Fire & Spice Bar & Kitchen, which features house specialties, and the Indigo Bar & Lounge. It also has a fitness suite, conference and events spaces with three meeting rooms and boardrooms, and a complimentary business centre.

DoubleTree by Hilton to Open in Liverpool

Doubletree by Hilton Hotels, a brand from the US-based hospitality company, Hilton Worldwide, will be opening a new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Liverpool, UK.

The brand is opening the new 87-room hotel, adding to its portfolio of properties in Leeds, Manchester and London.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, the senior vice president of development for Europe and Africa, for Hilton Worldwide, said, ‘The Liverpool market remains one of the most active development centres in the UK for Hilton Worldwide, already home to our upscale Hilton and economy Hampton by Hilton brands. With nearly 60 DoubleTree by Hilton hotels either open or under development, Europe remains a target development market for the brand.’

The new hotel will open in the summer of 2013, located in what was previously the city’s Municipal Annexe, an English Heritage grade 2 listed building that was constructed in 1865. It will be offering amenities that include a restaurant, a residents’ lounge, a spa and swimming pool, and conference facilities. Sanguine Hospitality will operate the hotel, under a franchise agreement with the brand.

DoubleTree by Hilton Announces New Hotel in Malaysia

Doubletree by Hilton Hotels, a brand from the US-based hospitality company, Hilton Worldwide, will be opening a new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The 365-room DoubleTree by Hilton, Johor Bahru opens in 2014, and will be the third DoubleTree by Hilton property in Malaysia. The hotel is located within Johor Bahru’s Central Business District.

Andrew Clough, the senior vice president of development for Middle East and Asia Pacific for Hilton Worldwide, said, ‘Hilton Worldwide has been in Malaysia for over 30 years and we remain committed to expanding our footprint in the region with the DoubleTree by Hilton, Johor Bahru as our eighth property in Malaysia. The 30-story DoubleTree by Hilton, Johor Bahru, will have 350 guest rooms and 15 service apartment units, as well as four restaurants and two bars. New DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Opens in Japan

Doubletree by Hilton Hotels, a brand from the US-based hospitality company, Hilton Worldwide, has opened its first branded hotel in Japan.

The new DoubleTree by Hilton Naha, in Okinawa, Japan, is the tenth Hilton Worldwide hotel in Japan. The 227-room hotel is minutes away from Naha Airport by monorail, and 500 metres from the local ferry terminal.

The hotel is offering an introductory 15 percent discount on lunch buffets at The Riverside Restaurant and Cafe from May 24 to June 30, 2012.

Doubletree by Hilton Announces New Properties in Doha

Hilton Worldwide, a global hospitality company and a subsidiary of The Blackstone Group, has announced two new hotels to be built in Doha, Qatar, under its Doubletree by Hilton Brand.

The two new hotels will be known as the Doubletree by Hilton Doha Al Sadd, and the Doubletree Suites by Hilton Doha, and both are expected to open in 2014. They are in addition to a further three Hilton Worldwide properties due to debut in Qatar within the next three years.

The smaller of the two is the Doha Al Sadd, which will be situated in Doha’s main business and commercial district and have 145 rooms. It will also benefit from a health club, an outdoor pool, two restaurants, a bar, two boardrooms, four meeting rooms and a business centre.

The larger, Doubletree Suites by Hilton Doha, will be located in Doha’s West Bay district. It will have 240 rooms, offering one, two or three bedroom accommodation in a fifty-two-floor complex. The hotel intends to cater for longer-term guests, providing them with a function room, four meeting rooms, two boardrooms, a business centre, a health club and spa, an outdoor pool, two restaurants and two bars.

The hotels will reportedly be managed by Al Ryyan Tourism Investment company, a part of Faisal Holding Company, with whom Hilton Worldwide has signed a management contract.

Hilton Worldwide’s investment in Qatar comes at a time when the country is seeing a dramatic increase in visitor numbers. These are mostly from the business sector at present, with numbers expected to grow still further as Qatar prepares to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
