Jet2holidays relaunches ‘Bid for a Break’ campaign

Jet2holidays has announced the return of its popular ‘Bid for a Break’ campaign this September, promising an even larger experience.

The campaign, which gained popularity in 2021, offers holiday-seekers the chance to bid for vacations at low prices. The upcoming relaunch will feature an extended format, with a new holiday up for auction every weekday and weekend throughout the month.

The campaign will relaunch on September 1, introducing 30 holiday opportunities in total. Unlike the previous setup that offered one weekly chance, this revamped version will provide more opportunities for participants to successfully bid on their dream vacations. The bidding process opens daily at one minute past midnight from Monday to Friday, closing at midnight on the same day. For weekends, auctions will remain open for an extended 48 hours, concluding on Sunday night.

To participate in the bidding, interested individuals can download the Jet2 mobile app and place their bids in pence. If their bid stands as the lowest unique amount, they secure the holiday for the same price as their bid.

The previous run of the campaign witnessed significant engagement, with over 60 successful bidders securing holidays to various destinations such as the Canary Islands, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, the Algarve, and Turkey.

The first vacation up for bidding will be a seven-night stay for two adults and two children at the Aska Lara Resort & Spa in Antalya. Subsequent holidays will span across diverse destinations like the Costa Blanca, Crete (Chania), Prague, Majorca, and the Algarve.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: ‘Since its launch, our ‘Bid for a Break’ campaign has been extremely popular with holidaymakers, so we are delighted to announce that it is returning every weekday and weekend throughout September, with 30 holidays up for grabs. The campaign is highly sought-after, and customers will be excited for its bumper return. For this reason, we have absolute confidence it will prove to be a big hit once again. We know how much holidaymakers want to get away from the UK and enjoy a well-deserved break, and with some fantastic holidays available to bid on daily, we are offering them the chance to do just that for as little as a few pence. We wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to welcoming the successful bidders on holiday.’

Additionally, participants with a myJet2 account will have the chance to bid on a luxurious five-star Indulgent Escape every week. This aspect offers opportunities for premium experiences at top-tier hotels.

The relaunch aligns with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ recent announcement regarding the enhanced myJet2 platform, which enables customers to manage their travel bookings and obtain exclusive offers and rewards through a unified customer account accessible across devices.

British Airways and American Express offer ‘Companion Voucher’ to solo travellers

British Airways and American Express have jointly announced the launch of Companion Voucher for travellers embarking on solo adventures around the world.

Effective immediately, cardmembers who have earned a Companion Voucher since September 2021 on either the British Airways American Express Credit Card or the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card can choose to redeem it when booking a solo trip, receiving a 50 percent discount on the Avios cost of the booking. Cardmembers can still choose to use the Companion Voucher to travel with a friend as they would have previously – receiving a second seat for a companion travelling on the same Reward Flight booking as them for no additional Avios.

Ian Romanis, Head of Retail and Customer Relationship Management at British Airways, said: ‘Solo travel is a popular option for our customers, which is reflected in the number of solo bookings we have seen. We’ve listened to our customers and we’ve introduced these exciting changes, understanding that flexibility is more important than ever to them.’

Caroline Bouvet, Vice President at American Express, said: ‘Companion Vouchers are an incredibly valuable benefit for Cardmembers, so it’s exciting that we’ve been able to make it even easier for them to be used on flights. As people return to travel – looking to go away by themselves or with a friend – the British Airways American Express Cards are a great way to turn everyday spending in to travel rewards, and the only way to earn the much-valued Companion Voucher.’

Companion Vouchers are awarded to travellers who hold either British Airways American Express Card and reach the required spend amount within their Card membership year. They can be redeemed on available British Airways Reward Flights, which don’t need to start in the UK, allowing cardmembers to book either one journey for 50 percent of the Avios required, or take a second traveller on their journey – on the same flights and in the same cabins – for no additional Avios, plus paying taxes, fees and charges per person.

In addition, those booking British Airways Reward Flights using a Companion Voucher, either as a solo traveller or with a companion, will now be able to choose from a variety of options regarding the number of Avios to spend versus cash on each booking. This was previously fixed to just one Avios and cash option based on the route and cabin.

British Airways American Express Credit Card Companion Vouchers can be redeemed in economy cabins, while British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card Companion Vouchers can be redeemed across all cabins. The British Airways American Express Credit Card has a representative 25.3% APR variable, while the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card has a representative 102.5% APR variable.

PayPal offers price-matching, free return shipping services for holiday period

E-commerce firm, PayPal has announced an offer that is available to customers that use its service to pay for goods during the holiday period.

For the offer period, if a customer sees a product that they have purchased using their PayPal account being offered at a cheaper price, PayPal will reimburse the difference. If a customer does find a product being offered for less elsewhere, they should call the company immediately, as a refund has to be requested in less than 30 days from the purchase date. The firm said that the offer would stand until the end of the year.

The firm also said that the offer would be limited to a maximum of USD250 on any one item, and USD1,000 per user throughout the promotional period.

In a blog post, the online company’s shopping specialist, Claudia Lombana, wrote, ‘If the item you purchase is advertised for lower with any merchant within 30 days of purchase, you can receive a reimbursement for the difference. It doesn’t matter if you bought the item online, in a store or a new item from eBay’s Top-rated sellers using ‘Buy It Now.’

The company said that the deal was even available on airline tickets, which will make it very attractive to travellers looking to ring-fence their travel deals. Customers will benefit, even if the same carrier drops the price of tickets within seven days of a client’s purchase, as the client can still recoup the difference. The firm also said that it was offering free return shipping within 30 days if customers do not like a product that they have purchased.

Customers should visit the firm’s website to request a price match or return-shipping refund. The firm is offering the new incentive after it consolidated several of its product groups.
