Largest ever Sheraton coming to Macau

Starwood Hotels has said that it is planning to open the largest ever Sheraton hotel in Macau.

The company said that the launch of the new hotel has been scheduled for September this year. The launch will see a 3,863-room property taking a position within the Sands Cotai Central complex in Macau. The hotel, christened Sheraton Macau Hotel Cotai Central, will also become the largest hotel in Macau, a Chinese special administrative region. It will be part of the Sands Cotai Central resort complex and will continue to expand its services.

The new hotel will provide a host of new features and services. The hotel company claims that customers can expect lavish space and comfort in the property because of its vastness and size. Features in the new property include more than 20,000sqm of meeting space at the pillar-less Kashgar Grand Ballroom, which is claimed to have the capacity to accommodate up to 5,265 people in a theatre-style seating layout. The hotel will also feature a Sine Spa with 15 treatment rooms, and three outdoor pools with 12,000sqm of deck space.

Food aficionados will have the chance to explore a variety of cuisines at Italian trattoria Bene, two poolside cafes, a roof lounge, and signature Asian seafood restaurant, Xin.

Managers said that when fully completed, the hotel would have 6,000 rooms, casinos, convention space, retail outlets, entertainment and dining options.

The Sheraton brand has been in existence for 70 years and its portfolio includes more than 400 hotels in 70 countries and more than 60 resorts in stunning destinations worldwide.


New Sheraton Jiaozhou Hotel Opens in China

Sheraton Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, a subsidiary of US-based Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, has announced the opening of its new Sheraton Jiaozhou Hotel, located near Qingdao city, on the Shandong Peninsula Coast, in China’s eastern region.

The new hotel is owned by Qingdao Greentown Jiaozhou Bay Real Estate Development Company, and has 270 guest rooms, including 31 suites.

The hotel lobby features the brand’s Link@Sheraton, experienced with Microsoft, a signature social hub for business travellers that offers immediate access to information and technology for work and leisure. The other amenities include lifestyle options such as new Sheraton Fitness programme by Core Performance for fitness lovers; the Shine Spa for Sheraton for relaxation; the Sheraton Club lounge offering complimentary food and beverages, and leisure facilities for Sheraton Club guests; as well as dining venues including the YUE Chinese Restaurant and Feast, the all day dining restaurant.

W Hotels Worldwide Announces Renovations at Ten Properties in North America

W Hotels, a luxury hotel brand from Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, will be remodelling around 10 hotel properties in North America.

The brand will be completing renovation projects at certain properties to upgrade the public areas, introduce new signature bar and restaurant concepts, and redesign the guestrooms.

Carlos Becil, the company vice president of brand management, luxury and design brands, North America, said, ‘When W Hotels launched in 1998, it quickly redefined the space and continued to transform the traditional hotel experience as we entered new markets across North America.

As W evolves from a US phenomenon into a global design powerhouse, we are committed to fuelling the innovation within our existing portfolio to create a consistent, cutting-edge experience for our guests.’

A key area of focus for the renovations will be the Living Room in the hotel lobby, which will be providing guests with a place to meet and mingle over drinks and music.

The hotel renovation project may cost up to £68 million, and will include W New York – Union Square; W Seattle; W San Francisco; W New York; W Chicago – Lakeshore; W New Orleans – French Quarter; W San Diego; W Los Angeles – Westwood; W Dallas; W New York – Times Square; and W Montreal.

The W Hotels brand is currently on an expansion track, and intends to offer around 50 hotels worldwide, by the end of 2013. Recently, W Hotels have been announced for Guangzhou, Milan, Shanghai, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Athens – Astir Palace, Muscat, Mumbai, Dubai, and Santa Fe, with additional plans also in the pipeline to offer W Retreats in Verbier and Riviera Maya.

Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra Hotel & Spa Opens in Spain

Sheraton Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, a subsidiary of US-based Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, has announced the opening of its first Sheraton branded hotel in Madrid, Spain.

The new Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra Hotel & Spa is part of the brand’s initiative to open around 60 hotels across the globe in next three years.

The Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra Hotel & Spa is located close to the city centre, and includes 180 guest rooms; an all-day dining restaurant; lobby bar; terrace lounge and pool bar. The hotel is also offering the brand’s signature Sheraton Fitness programmed by Core Performance, a spacious spa and an indoor and outdoor pool; as well as Sheraton Club rooms and lounge.

The Luxury Collection Hotels and Resorts Opens Keraton at The Plaza Hotel in Jakarta

The Luxury Collection Hotels and Resorts, a brand from US-based Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, has opened its 80th property in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The newly opened Keraton at The Plaza, a Luxury Collection Hotel, features 140 guestrooms and suites. The hotel is the first of the four new Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts scheduled to open in Asia in the coming six months. The other hotels soon to open are The Royal Begonia in Sanya, China, Twelve at Hengshan in Shanghai, China, and ITC Grand Chola in Chennai, India. The brand currently owns properties in around 30 countries.
