In August, the travel industry witnessed a significant uptick in last-minute bookings. Travel Counsellors reported a substantial rise in demand, with summer 2025 bookings already increasing by 34%. The cruise sector, in particular, benefitted from exceptional price reductions, leading to higher consumer interest and bookings.
The mass-market sales also recorded a 20% increase over last year, as per John Sullivan from Advantage Travel Partnership. Long-haul bookings rose by 15%, and cruise sales leaped by 33%, reinforcing consumer confidence in booking future trips.
Idle Travel reported a record-breaking August, with sales primarily directed towards September, October, and summer 2025. Destinations like Turkey, Greece, Tenerife, and Benidorm were among the top favourites, catering to evolving traveller preferences.
